Rick Lovelady plays harmonica, sings harmony vocals on and is co-producer of Songs From Shannon. He says collecting accordions is a favorite pastime and playing "at" other instruments is fun, but mostly he's a singer. Rick plays drums for his band The Amazing Live Sea Monkeys (with Golden Mile members Milton Moats and David Kilmer), and sings like a banshee for the Sea Monkeys and Birmigham roots rock band, Big Dixie.
When asked to remember his favorite moments while recording Songs From Shannon, Rick says, "Outtakes from hell, great champagne, angel hair pasta, the pristine magic of I Found You, Robbi's fiddle, David's solo on Shannon, Leslie's face when she heard the guitar effects on If You'll Be My Home... other than that, just getting to listen to a great singer over and over."
Rick currently resides in Birmingham with his wife, Suzanne Baker, and their four dogs (Emma, Sidney, Marley and Rosie) and four cats (Cleo, Sam, Katie and Danny).
Leslie says of Rick: "Rick Lovelady was the main person behind Songs From Shannon; Rick made sure the CD happened. He was the Ruben Kincaid, the den mother; the one who cracked the whip and made sure everybody was where they needed to be, when they needed to be there. And he also added some of my favorite musical touches to the CD, such as the harmonica in Faithful Are the Wounds. He worked so incredibly hard. Rick had a vision of what the songs could be just by hearing a recording of me hacking away at them in my living room. I don't know what kind of bionic ear he possesses, but God bless it!"
