Luke Lucas plays acoustic and electric guitar and sings harmony vocal on Songs From Shannon. Leslie Braly was introduced to Luke by a mutual friend in 1991, and shortly after the two began playing together in the local Birmingham music scene. Their last effort together as a band was the now-defunct Mary Jo's Daughter. Leslie was drawn to Luke's melodic style of picking and beautifully effortless harmonies as demonstrated in Songs From Shannon's Faithful Are the Wounds of a Friend.
He can be heard around Birmingham playing and singing in his band, The Hurlers (with Golden Mile's Kenny McDowell, Kelly Simpson and John Otey Hutchinson).
Leslie says of Luke: "Luke and I go way back, so I knew what he was going to bring to the project: that beautiful acoustic guitar. I love the way Luke plays. Back in our younger, single days we could sit around playing songs until daybreak, and often did. I have many wonderful memories of pulling out old record albums, reading off the song lists, and seeing how many songs we both knew and could remember. It was a lot of songs! And it was a lot of fun."
